Sesisonke Farming

Sesisonke Farming, owned by James Leslie, grows 6,000 hectares of crops, including potatoes, maize, soybeans, wheat, and sugar beans in a mixed farming system. Leslie, who has been farming since September 1993, realized the importance of using biorational products on his farm while watching his son playing in the soil and knowing the chemicals used to grow crops. He began investigating more environmentally friendly alternatives and attended a course on sustainable agriculture in Australia. Since then, sustainable agriculture has been a journey for him. Sesisonke Farming started to incorporate not only microbes, but also alternative tillage and fertilizer practices, cover cropping, and bringing animals back onto the land. Sesisonke is passionate about the future of agriculture and focus on sustainability through the use of biological products and practices, including the use of vermicast, compost, bacterial and fungal products and biostimulants. Sesisonke is regarded as a leader in sustainable agriculture through the expertise they developed over the past 12 years using biologicals.
