Precision Pest Management
The number of emerging invasive plant pests is rising rapidly around the world. Fortunately there are numerous new and emerging technologies that allow us to track and unravel this complexity, from molecular and chemical analyses, to breeding approaches and data collection through smart technologies, and the integration, analysis and sharing of data across fields. These technologies also allow much more precise approaches for pest management than ever before but require that we think differently about the development of IPM tools. In this session Dr. Bernard Slippers and his panelist highlight a number of these technologies and explore how to harness the opportunities they offer to deal with the expected scale, complexity and changing nature of global plant pest problems in the future.
